Leaning on 35 years of cycling experience, 30 years of fixing and modifying bikes and 15 years as a professional custom frame builder, Ricky Feather was ready for something new and exciting. Enter WKNDR!
WKNDR first entered Ricky’s imagination following building himself and a couple of friends TIG welded all-road bikes on weekends and spare evenings. The weekend is the time of the week we all look forward to, the time we get to be our own boss, do the things we want to do, the way we want to do them and the things that excite us or help us relax. It’s the time we squeeze in trips, adventures and the all important time with family and friends.
The mission with WKNDR is to make every day a fun and productive day, doing what we want, and more importantly, what we want to do for you. We want you to look forward to finishing work and know that you have an amazing bike to be excited about riding home on, or if that isn’t possible, a bike you look forward to jumping on when you get home. We want to give you the opportunity to ride the bikes that we want to ride, bikes designed and built on years of experience and understanding of what works and what doesn’t. We want to build bikes, by hand, in the UK, without hideous lead times. We want to offer bikes for a wide range of budgets and bikes for uses we most understand and enjoy ourselves. We want to be able to give you a degree of customisation to tailor the bikes to suit the riding you are most likely to use it for, but with a framework to do this around. We want to simplify handmade bikes so you have a relaxing experience throughout the process and one you’d look forward to doing again.
Alongside building incredible bikes, Ricky wants to give you the opportunity to experience the joy of riding something you built with your own two hands. This is something only relatively few will ever experience, but is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a frame builder. Four times per year, Ricky (and special guests) will hold a week long frame building experience for two participants so you can join this niche group of people who get to experience the unique feeling of riding that bike you build with your very own hands. With 15 years of consistent full-time frame building, Ricky is possibly the most experienced of all of the UK’s younger generation of custom builders and is very excited to share his knowledge and assist you through building a beautiful bike all of your own.
